Locations

I love embroidering buildings or collections of buildings in a village or town scene and I particularly love the juxtaposition of an old building against the surrounding gardens and landscape, with soft red brick or timber set against exuberant foliage! I have a few pieces and cards available on my shop of some special locations or why not commission your own art embroidery of a place you hold dear?

An original artwork in paint and thread makes a lovely gift to mark a special occasion or to remind of a special view or place. A commissioned piece to capture precious memories of a place makes an unusual and very personal gift to mark a wedding or special anniversary, as a retirement gift, birthday gift or for any family occasion.

Wedding venue portraits

A portrait of the wedding venue makes a very lovely and personal gift to remind everyone of a special day, which can be enjoyed in the recipients home for years to come. Some artworks I have done have been made even more personal by incorporating fabric scraps left over from making the wedding dress into the embroidery or embroidering the flowers featuring in the scene in the wedding colours.

Extra wide mounts can be supplied for guest signatures to make a unique and unusual guest book, including a portrait of the venue or capturing a landscape precious to happy couple.

House portrait

I aim to capture the character of your much loved home as well as the bricks and mortar, and hope anyone who commissions a house portrait will be able to highlight the special features they love which should appear in the final piece. Generally the portrait will include some of the surrounding garden or landscaping.They are worked over a layered foundation of natural fabrics in silks, calico and cotton, with painting and free machining carefully built over the top in many layers until the final portrait is achieved.

I generally work to commission from photos, although it would be possible to consider doing the photo shoot as well.
