Original artwork in paint and thread of one of the most iconic views in England - the view of the Seven Sisters white cliffs from near Hope Gap on the East Sussex Coast. You are looking over the Coastguard Cottages situated beside Cuckmere Haven, with five of the "Sisters" in clear view across the water. Piece is worked over natural fabrics - calico, silk noil and cotton batting, which are layered to form a textured background and then painted before being free motion embroidered in natural rayon threads. The cliffs themselves are worked over some precious scraps or "dechets" I picked up from the couture houses near Troyes in France - happy memories!
