One in my series of small original embroideries capturing local views around the South Downs and inspired by the work of Eric Ravilious. Free machine embroidery lends itself to painting with thread in thin lines and so this is my nod to his fine stripey brushstrokes and quiet colour palette.
This view is from the South Downs Way near Houghton as we walked along the path bordered with cow parsley like lace edging and with two walkers appearing in the distance at the bend in the path.
Piece is worked over cotton calico, painted and then embroidered with rayon threads.
Embroidery size 6" x 4"
Framed in oversized white mount in simple black frame. Frame size: 32 cm x 19.5 cm
Frame can be replaced with one in the same size with a choice of black, silver or light wood.
